I haven’t been shooting nearly enough for myself lately. It is far too easy for me to get into a slump when work is busy (like crazy busy) and the weather makes me want to stay indoors. So as a way of trying to shake off the “winter blahs” at the start of February I challenged myself to snap a picture each day. Whether my film camera, digital or iPhone, the only rules I set for myself were that it must be daily and it must have red in it. I’m half way through and I’ve stuck with it so far. Yeah me!
Another way I’ve been pushing myself this year is to participate in monthly blood circles with other photographers. Being part of the community always helps to inspire me. At the end of my post tap over and check out Tanya Moon’s website and blog. She is a Nashville lifestyle and documentary photographer and educator and her post this week is about photographers who inspire.
Have you set and kept any goals yet this year? How do you get out of a creative slump?

What a beautiful grid, Tamara! Love all the different ways you represent the color red!
Thank you Renee! I appreciate you saying so. It’s been a lot of fun!
Just love this idea! I sure will be following suit soon – it’s a great way to make sure you capture your family as well as those beautiful clients.
Easy to lose sight of own when things get busy!
I love how you carried red through the day too.
Thank you so much, Iana. I’m hoping to keep at it with different colours in the next few months. Stay tuned! 🙂
There’s nothing like shooting just for yourself. No pressure and it’s so rewarding for our creative souls! I love this beautiful red grid you put together!
Thank you so much, Dana!
Love all the red in these images and seeing you so much!
Thank you Anna! I didn’t expect to do so many self portraits, truth be told. Just running out of ideas 🙂
Love all that red!
