To my three kids, having mom around means having one of my cameras around too. Even in my “bc” life (before children), a camera was not usually far from my reach. It’s the way it’s always been. But while my children are used to having photographs taken of them, it doesn’t mean capturing those pictures is always easy. (As I tell the parents I work with, photographing your own children can be tough!) My favourite way to take my son or daoughters’ portraits is when they don’t even know I am; when I am simply documenting their childhood and catching them unaware. That said, on a few occasions a year I do insist that all three humour me and actually pose together for a few quicks shots – without bickering, rolling eyes, or poking one another. Getting a few pictures for our annual family Christmas cards is definitely one of those times. And, as usual, this year I was late in taking the pictures, late in designing our cards, and late in ordering them. Too busy with everyone else’s and a classic case of the “cobblers’ children having no shoes”. But here are a few from this year’s shots. I hope one day they will thank me 🙂
